We have a unique and exciting opportunity to implement and effect change in the lives of survivors of domestic abuse in the North Kent area. Using funding received from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities following the implementation of The Domestic Abuse Act, Dartford and Gravesham Borough Councils are working together to put a joint strategy and policy in place to bring together good work that is taking place across the two districts and ensure consistent delivery for all those affected by domestic abuse.

We are looking for the right talented individual who has recent experience of both working with survivors of domestic abuse but also delivering this service at a strategic level including developing training, policy writing, and directing change in an organisation.

This is an agile working post, with time working independently at home and jointly working in both Council settings. County wide meetings are held virtually. Both Gravesham and Dartford Councils really value the contribution that our staff make and in return, we offer the opportunity to ‘make a difference’ and go home at the end of the day with a very real feeling of accomplishment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and organised professional who is looking for a challenging new role in a busy environment.

The post holder will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic change in North Kent which will include;

  • Working closely with relevant colleagues across both Local Authorities
  • Working in partnership with Kent County Council colleagues to ensure a broad approach to delivering support services
  • Conducting a needs assessment of delivery in North Kent to measure gaps in service
  • Develop a North Kent Domestic Abuse Strategy in partnership with Housing Services and Community Safety Teams
  • Work towards DAHA accreditation for the Local Authorities Housing Services
  • Quality oversight of the pathways put in place by the Local Authority for survivors of domestic abuse

You must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Relevant qualification in domestic abuse support or equivalent;
  • Confidence, enthusiasm and a flexible approach;
  • Excellent organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Excellent partnership working;
  • The ability to keep the experience of the survivor as the focus for delivering services

Interviews planned for w/c 24th January. For more info about the role, please contact Toni Carter on 01322 343018
